Az  Erasmus+ program keretén belül egy újabb PhD hallgatót, Gabriela Perkovic-ot (Food Technology and Nutrition at Faculty of Food Technology Osijek, Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek) köszönthettük Intézetünkbe, aki egy hónapot töltött nálunk. Az itt eltöltött munkájáról, élményeiről és tapasztalatairól küldte el beszámolóját részünkre.

The background
I am Gabriela Perkovic, a post-graduate PhD student (supervisor: Prof. Ana Bucic) in Food Technology and Nutrition at Faculty of Food Technology Osijek, Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek. As part of my doctorate studies, I have participated in the Erasmus mobility program (9. October-7. November 2023) . My Erasmus + experience is just an extension and development of collaboration between the Faculty of Pharmacy in Szeged and the Faculty of Food Technology in Osijek. I was immediately placed in a working environment that was primarily centered on a pharmaceutical setting, where I could not only enhance the already learned knowledge about powder analysis but also add techniques and theories that I had not previously encountered.

Working in the lab
The detailed plan and analytical program were created in cooperation with Associate Professor Rita Ambrus Ph.D. dr. habil., whose suggestions and advice were extremely helpful. The chemical structure of samples made by spray-drying grape pomace and goat whey was thoroughly studied. All trials and experiments were carried out with the continual assistance and support of the chemical technician Klára Kovács, who makes no analysis difficult or impossible. Furthermore, I could also always rely on the PhD students for counsel or to point me in the right direction if I had any doubts or queries.
The work was also a part of a Hungarian-Croation Bilateral Project (2019-2.1.11-TÉT-2020-00147).

Social and travels
In addition to the performed analyses, this experience connected me with many young people, future important researchers, and scientists, not only from Szeged but also from other parts of the world. During my journey, I learned about the traditions and culture of this nation and tasted a variety of Hungarian gourmet dishes. I got to know the whole city in detail and enjoyed and admired its beauty. I visited the Mora Ferenc museum, which not only amazes me with its architecture and design but also has beautiful exhibitions inside the museum. I also visited the Botanical Garden, which also delighted me.
