Dr. Mahwash Mukhtar, a research fellow from the Institute of Pharmaceutical Technology and Regulatory Affairs SZTE, recently visited the lab in the Faculty of Food Technology Osijek, Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek, Croatia.

This lab tour lasted from February 1 to February 14, 2024. The nanotechnology research group from the Institute of Pharmaceutical Technology and Regulatory Affairs, under the supervision of Dr. habil Rita Ambrus has a research collaboration with Dr. Ana Bucić-Kojić in the Faculty of Food Technology Osijek, Croatia.

The lab is well equipped with high-edge facilities for research in food processing and agro-food industrial residues by fermentation. Dr. Mahwash researched the encapsulation of antibiotics in the polymeric nanobeads, using B-390 Encapsulator. In the past, B-390 Encapsulator had been used for the encapsulation of food extracts in Dr. Bucic’s lab. This research plan was developed and executed by Dr. Rita Ambrus in coordination with Dr. Ana Bucić-Kojić. The outcomes of the study will be published soon. The Ph.D. student Gabriela Perković and a Post-doctoral researcher Dr. Gordana Šelo from the Faculty of Food Technology assisted in this research, together with the support of Prof. Ana Bucić-Kojić and Prof. Dr. Mirela Planinić. Dr. Mahwash also made a tour of a similar nature in 2023 from March 1 to March 15, which also involved the use of B-390 Encapsulator for developing pharmaceutical powder dosage form along with exploring the possible role of enzymes in the in-vitro release of polymeric drug delivery systems. Previously, the PhD students from Osijek also visited Dr. Ambrus’s lab on the Erasmus exchange program.
